Har Ki Dun Trek ( 7 Days/6 Nights )
Overview
Har Ki Dun, also known as the Valley of Gods, is situated deep inside Govind Pashu National Park in Uttarakhand. The valley is rich in flora and fauna, with trails often covered in different shades of orchids and other wildflowers.
The trek follows the Supin River through the scenic Garhwali villages of Taluka, Gangad, and Osla. Legends associated with it say that Swargarohini is the path to heaven followed by the Pandavas in the epic Mahabharata. However, the same story is also associated with the Swargarohini steps seen from Satopanth Lake, which lies ahead of Badrinath.
The beautiful Marinda Tal, formed by a huge boulder obstructing the river, can be trekked in an hour from Har Ki Dun, or we can explore the Hata Valley to the north of Har Ki Dun. It will be a long trek, but the hike to the Jaundhar Glacier viewpoint that takes us to the Swargarohini base is also feasible.

Tour Plan
- Har Ki Dun Trek will start from Dehradun in the early morning. At 6:30 AM, your journey will begin to reach Purty via Sankri.
- You will travel along the National Highway 123 and cover a distance of 210 kilometers. This may take around 9 hours to reach Sankri and these hours are going to indulge your eyes with several picturesque locations on the way.
- There will be many pleasant destinations on the way to Sankri. The twisting roads will pass you through the exciting locations of Mussoorie, Kempty fall, and Purola. You will camp at the quaint village, 13 kilometers inside Govind National Park.
- The second day will include all the fun from Purty to Taluka. We will start a drive from Taluka to cover the distance of around 7 kilometers. This one-hour long journey will bring you to Taluka, from where you will start a trek to Puani Garaat.
- The river and the wooden bridge will give an ancient feel while trekking. On reaching Taluka, you will see the beautiful mountains of Uttarakhand. The village has a few houses and an exciting Himalayan range.
- Later, you'll reach a bridge spanning a tributary of the Supin River. After crossing this bridge, you'll arrive at a designated camping ground where you can pitch your tent. Here, you can also engage in exciting activities like climbing etc.
- Subsequently, explore Gangaad, which is rich with majestic views, lush greens, wild orchids, and snow-capped peaks. Though this trekking is quite arduous, the pleasant night stay with the stars will soothe the time.
- This is the time to explore Osla town. It is a small town where you will reach after an hour of hiking. Osla is a small village, which is located 8,500 feet above sea level. You can take blessings by visiting Lord Shiva temple and witness the miraculous architecture of the temple.
- The trek from Osla begins by crossing two streams, where the second stream has a wooden bridge to reach the mountain bend. There will be two more meadows below the valley over Supin.
- The wooden bridge will lead you to the grasslands of Dev Thach, Bali Pass, and Ruinsara River. You will witness wheat fields while moving to the inhabited areas. The confluence of Supin and Ruinsara will make your day.
- The majestic views of Black Peak and Bandarpoonch will add more pleasure to the trekking experience. With constant climbing, you will soon reach flat land namely Kalkatiyadhaar; this is your next campsite.
- Today is the most important day as you will start trekking to Kalkatiyadhaar along with mesmerizing views on the way.
- We will keep the eyes on the glacier basin which has moraines and alpine meadows. Here, swaying and tall pine trees will make your day while crossing the pastures of Dev Thach.
- Here is a place where two rivers meet and then it further bifurcates into two ways. One way brings us to Har Ki Dun and the other takes us to Ruinsara Taal, Bali Pass. The peaks of Har Ki Dun and Hata Peak will propel you while climbing.
- We will keep climbing by putting more and more enthusiasm. After the gradual incline on a wooden bridge, you will reach the Har Ki Dun. Maninda Taal, Borasu Pass, Jaundar Glacier, and Swargarohini peaks are giving you sufficient locations to explore as the bonus of a trekking trip.
- After collecting all the gems in memories, this is the time to return to your camp located at Kalkatiyadhaar.
- After a tiring yesterday, we will travel back to the village Puani Garaat. This returning trek will include Osla on the way.
- After around 3,500 feet downhill, you will reach the required place in 5 hours. The next 6.5 kilometers are the easy trekking experiences that you can grab after having a relishing breakfast.
- The enticing charm of the Himalayan range will encourage you to walk more. You can again collect the random moments with snow-clad peaks while reaching your camp at Puani Garaat.
- Today, we embark on our trek towards Puani Garaat, commencing our journey from Taluka. This 10-kilometer trail, following the course of the river, is anticipated to take approximately 5 hours to traverse.
- Along the way, as we pass through verdant forests and traverse various bridges, we will steadily approach the destination of Taluka.
- Upon arrival in Taluka, we will transition to a scenic drive leading us to Purty, where we will spend the night. This provides an excellent opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local language, cuisine, customs, and culture.
- It’s your desire to do so, as there is much to explore and appreciate in just one night in this enriching environment.
- On this day, we will leave Sankri with a heavy heart. The majestic and overwhelming trip has come to an end now.
